LTA has announced the opening of the new Buangkok bus interchange (BI) on 1 December 2024. With its arrival also comes the establishment of Singapore's 12th Integrated Transport Hub (ITH), within which Sengkang Grand Mall and Buangkok MRT station will be merged.
Buangkok BI will commence operations with three bus services - 110, 114, and 156 - connecting nearby residents to amenities, as well as surrounding places like Sengkang East Avenue and further to Changi Airport and Bishan.
Services 110 and 156 will be relocated from Compassvale BI and Sengkang BI respectively, with the former to cease operations. The only other service at Compassvale BI, Service 374, will be relocated to Sengkang BI with no change to its route.
Information on the amendments to the aforementioned routes will be available at all relevant bus stops, BIs, and the bus operators' websites. Further details on the route changes can also be found here.
Like all newer BIs, Buangkok BI will also host inclusivity-oriented and sustainability-centred features.
Catered specially to families with young children, seniors, and those with mobility challenges, examples of the former include barrier-free access at entrances, and a dedicated priority queue zone with seating.
Meanwhile, energy-saving features such as LED lights, a more energy-efficient air-conditioning system, water-saving taps and motion sensor lights will also be found at the BI.
