Recap: BMW Eurokars spreads Christmas cheer at South Beach

If your recent weekend jaunt into the city took you towards South Beach, you might have noticed a special electric car - backed by a calming wooden wall with creeper plants - decked out in Portimao Blue metallic.
That's because the 2024 iteration of the Sustainable Christmas Market (SCM), which ran from 16 to 17 November 2024, saw the participation of one of the nation's biggest car dealers: BMW Eurokars Auto.
Eurokars' presence at the sustainability-centred festive market comes as part of a larger effort it has called 'DrivingChange', and is in line with the social-impact driven focus of SCM.
Shoppers at the event can always take heart in the fact that the money spent here goes towards a good cause; it supports underprivileged children under Red Cross Singapore's Young Hearts programme, and targets vital areas as they progress through their early years, such as education and mentorship. As SCM's corporate partner for 2024, Eurokars states that it was proud to donate $20,000 this year to the cause.
In doing good to the local community, BMW Eurokars also made sure to spread the word about sustainable motoring with the physical showcase of the all-new BMW iX2.
As the latest electric crossover to join the BMW lineup locally, the iX2 boasts the same sort of sweet coupe-SUV styling of the X2, but with the promise of zero tailpipe emissions.
Its 64.8kWh battery is good for a WLTP-rated electric range of 478km, and can be recharged from 10 to 80% in just half an hour using a 130kW DC charger. Offered exclusively in the eDrive20 variant locally, the iX2's 110kW electric motor also gives it a good level of pep, while making it eligible for a Category A COE.
As a final treat, visitors who were curious enough to kick-start their journey of knowledge-building about EVs were even rewarded in kind.
More than 90 potted plants - including rosemary, pandan, sage, lavender, mint, oregano, and cilantro ones - were handed out to lucky visitors who took a quiz on the BMW iX2.
Commenting on the event, Eurokars shared its hope that its participation in SCM 2024 could help contribute to a movement that advocates sustainability, while also helping to empower the community and support underprivileged children.
