BMW M brings the M3 GTR from Need for Speed to life

To mark the 30th anniversary of the video game series Need for Speed, BMW M has presented its own iteration of the 2001 BMW M3 GTR, complete with the same livery, from Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005).
The real-life prototype of the vehicle is a racing car based on the BMW M3 E46, originally developed for the American Le Mans Series. The car is said to have exceeded all expectations and won a host of accolades. This special M3 GTR, meanwhile, comes powered by a P60B40 V8 engine, which delivers a maximum output of 456bhp, allowing it to race to a top speed of about 260km/h.

BMW states that a new upcoming Need for Speed title will also feature the return of this legendary BMW M3 GTR alongside the BMW S 1000 RR 2019, the very first motorbike to be implemented in a Need for Speed game.
