BMW releases camouflage shots of updated BMW iX

More than three years have come and gone since BMW unveiled the iX - its first electric-only model since the i3 - to the world. As the electric landscape evolves rapidly and direct competitors in the premium electric SUV segment continue to both proliferate and improve, BMW is also seeing fit to give the iX a proper mid-life update.
Except that for now, it's holding back all the details, and simply providing us with camouflage shots of the car.
The photos you'll see here indicate that the updated iX will largely retain the styling of the original car, albeit with the light nips and tucks seen on other recent model facelifts within the House of BMW.
Clearly visible are a new interpretation of the car's quad head lights, which are now vertically rather than horizontally arranged, and slant towards the grille (à la updated models like the all-new 1 Series and updated i4).
Speaking of the grille, in spite of the heavy camouflage on the front end, it appears that the iX will incorporate the diagonal lines seen on the all-new X3 and (again) on the latest 1 Series too. Its rear, on the other hand, appears largely unchanged. BMW will, however, be offering the SUV with the M Sport package for the first time, which should add the sorts of racier elements to its exterior and interior that we know from the brand.
Still, the big news will be more than skin-deep.
While BMW hasn't released official figures yet, the updated iX is slated to boast efficiency and power gains across the range. (Three variants - the iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50, and iX M60 - have been on offer globally since the car's launch.) The upgrades should keep it competitive among fresher electric kids on the block, such as the Audi Q6 e-tron.
For reference, the only variant that has ever been on sale in Singapore is the iX xDrive40, which is powered by a 76.6kWh battery that provides up to 425km of range (WLTP-rated). Said battery also motivates two electric motors that put out 240kW (322bhp) and 630Nm of torque, which can send the iX to 100km/h from a standstill in just 6.1 seconds. It's likely that its successor will be, at once, more powerful yet also capable of going further on a single charge.
If your mind is already impatient to wrap itself around the full extent of the updates, fret not - BMW states that the updated iX will be revealed in full in early 2025.
