On its 10th anniversary, on 21 December 2024, Chinese automotive brand, Nio, held its Nio Day 2024 at Haixinsha Asian Games Park in Guangzhou, China. It was also at this event where the Nio Smart Electric Executive flagship ET9 was officially launched, with deliveries in China scheduled for March 2025.
The ET9 will integrate Nio's 12 Full Stack self-developed technologies. It sports a 'Lightful Welcome' via the front and rear headlights and a two square-metre light carpet, with the combination of the Sky Island and Executive Bridge dividing the cabin into four exclusive spaces. Other features include a 582mm ultra-wide seat cushion, two square-metres of full-area heating, and 16-point hot stone massage function.
The ET9 will also be equipped with what is claimed to be China's first self-developed smart system architecture, relying on its four core advantages of ultra-high computing power, high-performance data communication, energy management, and security redundancy.
It will also come with the world's first vehicle-centric full-domain operating system, SkyOS, which will cover multiple fields such as vehicle control, intelligent driving, cockpit, and mobile internet.
Other world-firsts await with the ET9 still.
Nio states that this will be the first car globally to integrate the SkyRide Steer-by-Wire, SkyRide Rear-Wheel Steering, and SkyRide Full Active Suspension into a Smart EV chassis system. Finally, it will also adopt an integrated hydraulic fully active suspension, which integrates the shock absorber with the active suspension electric drive unit, allowing the chassis to adapt to an ultra-large range of transient adjustment capabilities.
