Aston Martin unveils the Valhalla supercar in full
12 Dec 2024|202 views
With development now at an advanced stage, Aston Martin has revealed full details of its landmark mid-engined hybrid supercar: The Valhalla. To jolt your memory slightly, a pre-production example unit was previously showcased (and made available for order) in February 2023 here in Singapore. At that point, the car was estimated to cost $4.8 million if registered for our roads.
Described as a car of 'firsts', the Valhalla is the brand's first series production mid-engined supercar and first plug-in hybrid, the first production vehicle with dedicated EV range capability, the first to use the bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 engine, and also the first to use Aston Martin's all-new eight-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.
Moving on to its powertrain, it consists of an 817bhp V8 engine and three electric motors - two of which drive the front axle - delivering a further 248bhp, for a total system output of 1,065bhp and 1,100Nm of torque. This allows the Valhalla to go from 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 350km/h.
Four drive modes are available for the supercar, including Sport mode selected as default upon startup, Pure EV, Sport+, and Race. Aston Martin states that each comes with its own settings for the powertrain, as well as suspension stiffness, active aero, and steering calibration. In addition, as the battery depletes, the car will automatically switch from EV to Sport mode, engaging the V8 engine to be driven as a hybrid supercar.
The Valhalla's exterior includes forward-hinged dihedral doors, a Formula One inspired roof snorkel, and an intriguing aerodynamic feature called the door turning vane, where airflow exiting the front wheel arch is directed into cooling ducts, improving performance of the V8 engine and transmission oil coolers by 50%.
Its predominantly carbon fibre body is available either painted or as exposed carbon, with the option for an upper or lower pack to add visual carbon fibre. All exterior carbon panels can also be specified in gloss or satin lacquer, of which the latter offers a choice of red, blue, or green tint. In addition, the supercar also offers a choice of six bespoke livery themes.
Formula One influences can be found in the Valhalla's interior, with raised footwells and lightweight, one-piece bespoke carbon fibre seats. Also included is the Aston Martin HMI system featuring a central touchscreen which, in EV drive mode, shows the supercar's energy deployment, electric power, and energy regeneration.
Like all Aston Martin models, Valhalla customers can explore bespoke and customisation possibilities for a further personal touch. The supercar has entered its industrialisation phase, with the first deliveries - limited to 999 units - set to commence in the second half of 2025.
