Aston Martin unveils 824bhp Vanquish here in Singapore

The holidays are approaching, and if you're looking for something that will get you up north with minimal effort, Aston Martin now has quite the solution.
Unveiled at an exclusive media preview here in Singapore is this Vanquish. It's a nameplate that has long been absent from Aston Martin's lineup, and this new iteration certainly shows it.
Its numbers have swelled quite considerably, for starters. Under the bonnet of this new Vanquish is a 5.2-litre V12, which offers up a total of 824bhp alongside a total of 1,000Nm of torque. These figures are enough to impress but become startling when you consider that they are achieved without the assistance of any electric motors or high-voltage batteries.
Instead, the block has received a host of upgrades to achieve this stratospheric output, including strengthened cylinder block and conrods, redesigned cylinder heads, new fuel injectors, as well as the assistance of two new turbochargers, amongst other improvements. And these upgrades, if you're wondering, have also allowed the Vanquish to just about pip the 819bhp output of the naturally aspirated V12 in the Ferrari 12Cilindri.
A ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox sends all this power to the car's rear wheels, allowing it to sprint from a standstill to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds.
And to keep all this power firmly under your rein, this Aston Martin Vanquish gets a bonded aluminium body structure (said to provide a 75% increase in lateral stiffness over the DBS 770 Ultimate), alongside a double wishbone suspension design and the front and a multi-link suspension setup at the rear. These, in turn, make use of Bilstein DTX dampers with a calibration bespoke to the Vanquish for more efficient damping performance and enhanced refinement.
But it's not all just about performance, of course. This new Vanquish has also grown more muscular in all the time passed, befitting its standing as the firm's new flagship model.
This Vanquish retains the silhouette of its predecessors, defined by a beautifully stretched bonnet at the front. And at the rear rests a distinctive Kamm Tail, said to reduce speed-sapping drag.
And there's also an enlarged front grille (13% larger than that of the DBS 770 Ultimate) to draw in more cool air over that V12. And for those who think this Vanquish looks too similar to the other cars in Aston Martin's lineup, look to the car's side strakes. These boldly identify the V12 under the bonnet of the Vanquish (and come in bright chrome alongside and feature the 'V12' text in red as standard), setting the Vanquish apart from the DB12 and the Vantage.
For those long drives to that special retreat up north, Aston Martin's Sports Plus Seat are offered here as standard (carbon fibre Performance Seats are available as an added option), said to deliver a low seating position and the necessary comfort for cross-continental drives. And if the sun's shining over the North-South highway, you'll be glad to note that the Vanquish also comes as standard with a panoramic glass roof that is tinted to protect occupants from harmful ultraviolet rays.
Look to the rear and you'll note another distinguishing point between this Vanquish and Aston Martin's other grand tourer, the DB12 - the omission of rear seats. Saddle leather luggage sets are available in their place, however, as an added accessory.
Interested in securing your own? Aston Martin states that this Vanquish is set to see only 1,000 examples produced per year, and Wearnes Automotive states that it is now taking indent orders for the car, so you'll want to be quick. The indicative price for the Vanquish starts at $2.2 million before COE and options.
