Ariel, makers of the Atom, have returned to the bicycle market with the unveil of its new Dash.
Described as a celebration of the Penny-Farthing or High Wheel, the Ariel Dash e-bike takes after the minimalist design philosophy that has informed the Atom. The e-bike has no visible wiring, hydraulic hoses, or cables, and instead routes its brake, gear, and control systems through the internals of its frame, resulting in an ultra-clean and efficient design.
This frame makes use of a mix of titanium tube and carbon fibre as well as 3D-printed titanium nodes, allowing it to weigh in at just 1.3kg.
The e-bike is available in two distinct forms, with the Dash Urban designed to be a city-focused road bike. This version utilises a single speed, belt-drive technology to deliver a simple and easy riding experience and offers a power-assisted range of up to 72km, or 128km with the range extender.
The Dash Adventure, meanwhile, is a go-anywhere road, trail, or gravel bike. It come fitted with chain-drive and 12 gears to enable riders to tackle any terrain and will deliver around 80km of power-assisted riding and 152km with the range extender.
Both versions of the e-bike make use of Mahle powertrains and come with a 250W rear hub motor, although the Dash Urban gets a 250Wh battery, while the Dash Adventure makes use of a 236Wh battery.
The Dash will be made to order for each individual customer and will be built alongside the Atom at the Ariel factory in Somerset, U.K. Each e-bike will be made by a single technician who will place their nameplate on the bike only when they are satisfied with the build.
