As the old adage goes: Forget your ex and move on. Well, this is one X that begs to differ. The new fourth generation BMW X3 has finally touched base on Singapore's shores, assuming the mantle of the jack-of-all-trades in the brand's core segment. It is offered in three variants - the 20 xDrive, the 20 xDrive M Sport, and the M50 xDrive.
It stands at 4,755mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,660mm tall, which is not that distinguishable from its predecessor. In its grille interior, it now sports diagonally arranged bars for a fresh touch and contour lighting.
19-inch aerodynamic wheels come as standard on the X3, with the 20 xDrive M Sport featuring 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and bespoke design features. Adding to this, the standard M Sport package Pro in the M50 xDrive features contour lighting and M Sport brakes with red painted callipers for that extra suave.
As for paintwork choices, customers get to choose from one solid and eight metallic shades. For added exclusivity, the 20 xDrive M Sport and the M50 xDrive offers BMW Individual paint finishes for a more personal touch.
Worried about space? Fret not, the X3's cabin offers plenty, with a driver-focused design sporting features such as the BMW Curved Display. Boasting a rear compartment of 570-litres which can go up to a maximum of 1,700-litres, who says size doesn't matter?
Arguably the highlight of the bunch, the M50 xDrive sports the most powerful six-cylinder in-line petrol engine ever on an M Performance model, with its 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo unit and 48V mild hybrid technology offering a maximum output of 393bhp and helping the car go from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds, a substantial step up compared to its predecessor.
The X3's 48V mild hybrid technology allows the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit in the 20 xDrive to offer a maximum output of 188bhp and a 0-100km/h time of 8.5 seconds. The Sport Boost function, found in the 20 xDrive M Sport and the M50 xDrive, allows for an added injection of speed.
Modern comforts are not amiss in the interior, with standard features including a Bluetooth interface, four USB-C ports, and a 12V power socket in the centre console and luggage compartment. A Harman Kardon surround sound system comes as standard for the 20 xDrive M Sport and M50 xDrive.
The X3 will make its Singapore Motorshow premiere, which will run from 9 January 2025 to 12 January 2025 at the Suntec City Exhibition Centre, which is set to house BMW's largest booth yet.
