Royal Motor Grandeur brings MPV-extravaganza to Northpoint

For those who haven't had the time to plan the first week of the June holidays out properly, Northpoint City might just hold the key to the perfect family outing this week: With a diverse range of cars that has freshly graced its atrium, courtesy of Royal Motor Grandeur (RMG).

From now till 2 June (this Sunday), residents of the North can get up close with not just three or four, but a whopping total of seven different models as part of the Royal Motor Grandeur x Sgcarmart Trusted Brand Showcase.

As many should already know, RMG has quickly grown to stand among the most prominent names in the parallel import field. The company currently runs four outlets around the island, located separately in Ubi, Corporation Drive, Ang Mo Kio, and Sim Lim Square, with the mid-year showcase this time excitingly marking its first roadshow of 2024.

This time round, one highlight visitors might note is just how many MPVs can be found among the crew at Northpoint City. In fact, a total of four different MPVs - in varying forms and sizes - are here, although they are all tied together by one very important factor: They all boast hybrid powertrains.

The latest Honda Stepwagon is sure to turn heads on the road with its boxy styling 

The standout model in our eyes is arguably the latest Honda Stepwagon e:HEV (also referred to by many as the 'Spada', the sole trim level with which it is offered here). There is its boxy styling for starters: With its upright nose and long bonnet up front, squarish silhouette, and full-length vertical taillights, all of which are sure to turn heads on the road.

Then, step into the car and you will find space aplenty - not just in the form of useful storage spaces, but also in terms of generous head and legroom for all of your rear passengers, no matter where they are seated.

Those in the second row are even treated to individually reclinable chairs and foldable tables, while getting into the back promises to be fuss-free thanks to powered sliding doors on both sides, and grab handles for exit and entry.

Best of all, however, the Stepwagon is powered by a 2.0-litre hybrid engine that puts out a healthy 143bhp and 175Nm of torque, while still boasting fuel consumption of approximately 20km/L. That should ensure that the car delivers enough punch to ferry the whole family around regularly, yet remains economical to run. 

Of course, if the Stepwagon isn't up your alley, there are - as mentioned earlier - three other family-carriers to get up close with.

Those wanting something similar in size and segment can consider the spacious Toyota Voxy Hybrid. Meanwhile, those seeking out something a bit easier to handle day-to-day have the Honda Freed Hybrid. Finally, those who want to roll about with some bling and quiet luxury will be well-served by the Toyota Alphard Hybrid. Each of the four MPVs is likely to suit the needs of large families in very different ways, with their own unique sets of qualities.

Still, even if the flexibility of three rows is not what your family needs in a car right now, there are other evergreen options on offer too.

The Honda Fit, for instance, remains one of the most familiar and beloved names on the market today - and for good reason. Besides its fuel-sipping abilities, the pint-sized hatchback is perfectly-sized for Singapore's narrower roads while still offering commendable passenger and boot space.

Otherwise, drivers who have fully bought into the crossover trends of today's automotive world should delight in the presence of the Honda Vezel and Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid.
