The Lexus showroom along Leng Kee Road has long stood as a beacon of quiet luxury, but starting from today, visitors and longtime Lexus-owners alike will find that the space has been elevated further to a different stratosphere: With the official opening of the transformed Lexus Boutique.
Coming after approximately four months of renovation, the unveiling of the new space on Tuesday (12 November 2024) saw no shortage of special festivities through the morning. These included a traditional Japanese dance, and even a live calligraphy performance that brought to life the characters for the Japanese term, omotenashi, or the concept of anticipating a guest's needs.
Perhaps no better expression embodies the heart of the new Lexus Boutique.
With mindful hospitality grounding the approach to its design, Lexus has brought to bear what it is referring to as a multi-sensorial and immersive showroom experience, crafted to be unparalleled in the luxury automotive space.
Even before they step in, Lexus states that guests can look forward to dedicated parking when they arrive, and will even be personally escorted by staff members with an umbrella on the sorts of wet days we have seen recently. After they pass through the front doors, a welcome drink and a refreshing towel (heated up for wet and cold days; cooled for normal sunny ones) will then be offered.
They might even find their noses greeted by the sweet, light scent of white tea - part of Lexus' signature fragrance meant to symbolise tranquility and well-being.
But before going further into the multi-sensorial part of things, the pictures here should already point you to the fact that the interior of the Lexus Boutique has been reshaped quite significantly.
While still maintaining its overall air of calming luxury, the reception area has been livened up thanks to a new feature wall, which is not only bathed in warmer lighting, but incorporates the brand's signature spindle shapes.
Continue inwards on Level 1, and you'll note that the repositioning of the showroom walls has heightened the sense of spaciousness, with a seamless connection now of both the aftersales and 'sales' areas.
Lexus' ethos of exquisite craftsmanship should also be evident in the fusion of Peranakan and Japanese design elements. The latter are further accentuated by 'Zen gardens', and wooden doors designed to resemble traditional Japanese fusuma.
One of the biggest stars of the new Lexus Boutique will also be found here on Level 1: A new digital video art installation, dubbed 'Lexus - Poetry in Motion'.
Conceptualised to capture the cycle of a full day, but filtered through a highly specific Lexus-esque lens, the two-minute animation incorporates a wide range of Japanese motifs within which philosophies and values central to the brand are embedded. These include the brand's legacy, the passion of its Lexus Takumi Masters, and naturally, the concept of omotenashi once again.
Moving upwards, another key update to the space is the introduction of the Lexus L Gallery on Level 2, as part of an enhanced suite of services that Lexus Singapore is rolling out for its top-level Prestige customers (or owners of Lexus L-series models).
Apart from sharing the zen-inducing design touches of the first floor, the Lexus L Gallery includes a VIP Lounge, which can be reserved in complimentary four-hour slots for up to eight guests with added services such as personalised service from a dedicated Lexus Guest Relations Executive, and free-flow non-alcoholic beverages.
The VIP Lounge and Lexus L Gallery also preview the larger Lexus Concierge Care service that Prestige customers can look forward to from January 2025.
Alongside the lounge, eight complimentary airport transfers annually form the first pillar of 'Lifestyle Solutions'. Concierge Care additionally comprises three other pillars: After Sales Care, Accidents & Repair, and Financing & Insurance.
Returning more specifically to the note of multi-sensorial experiences, arguably one of the most powerful ways to tug at a Singaporean's heartstrings is through their stomach - and on this front, the new Lexus Boutique promises to deliver strongly too.
If you're an existing Lexus-owner, here's a small fun fact: You'll likely want to schedule your appointments early when sending your car in for servicing.
Part of the fresh Lexus-curated culinary experience in the new Lexus Boutique includes a revamped menu including four carefully selected options, ranging from an American Breakfast (waffles, eggs and sausages); to the Lexus Classic for those with localised palettes (blue pea flower nasi lemak); to vegetarian burger sliders; and to something closer to Lexus' home: The Lexus Flagship Breakfast Bento.
The launch of the new Lexus Boutique has also seen Lexus Singapore forge partnerships with two heavyweights in the local cafe scene, Patisserie CLE and Brawn & Brains.
The fact that the latter has put together a bespoke Lexus coffee blend to be served exclusively in the Boutique should already tantalise our caffeine-heads. But perhaps even more alluring is the fact that this has been crafted to pair perfectly with Patisserie CLE's Lexus Aichi Miso cake.
A key ingredient in the pastry - Hatcho Miso - pays direct homage to Lexus' roots in the Aichi prefecture, which is renowned for its red miso.
The grand opening of the new Lexus Boutique comes as the brand reports doubled sales volume over the course of this year, with 2024 playing host to the arrival of its first-ever Cat A model, the LBX, and the continued rollout of its first MPV, the Lexus LM.
It also follows in the footsteps of Inchcape Singapore's overhaul of its Toyota showroom just next door too, just over a year ago.
Speaking on the opening, Mr. Ng Khee Siong, Managing Director of Borneo Motors Singapore, proudly highlighted the concepts of heritage, craftsmanship, technology and omotenashi as the four key design elements that were built into the space, stating, "You will find the Lexus story in every corner."
He also added, "The Lexus Boutique is not just a space to view cars; it's a fully immersive experience of what the Lexus brand stands for. Every element… has been carefully designed to engage all five senses of each guest. This makes each visit as memorable as driving a Lexus vehicle, embodying the Lexus ethos: Experience Amazing."
As with before, the new Lexus Boutique is located at 33 Leng Kee Road, Singapore 159102, and is open between 9:00am to 6:00pm from Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday, and from 10:00am to 6:00pm on Sundays.
