The Civic is the Honda that everyone knows, meanwhile, the Honda Freed has also been one of the most popular people-movers on the roads in Singapore.
Today, Kah Motor has officially unveiled the latest iteration of these models with the facelifted 11th generation Honda Civic e:HEV, and the all-new third-generation Honda Freed e:HEV.
Originally offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, the facelifted Honda Civic is now offered in a 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid guise. On the exterior, this Civic Hybrid gets a sharper front end with a bumper that reminds of the high-performance Type-R model.
The e:HEV powertrain in this Civic consists of two electric motors, a 2.0-litre Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder engine, a lithium-ion battery, and an innovative fixed-gear transmission. The e:HEV system offers three interchangeable drive modes: EV Drive - electric motors are driven directly by the batteries, Hybrid drive - the engine supplies power to the electric generator motor, which in turn powers the electric propulsion motor, and lastly, Engine Drive - where petrol engine transmit power directly to the wheels.
All this translates to a versatile drivetrain that offers optimum efficiency and power when desired. The Civic 2.0-litre e:HEV puts out 141bhp and 315Nm of torque, all while attaining an impressive fuel economy of 21.7km/L.
Next up, is the Honda Freed e:HEV. This marks the third generation of this highly popular MPV, this time round also powered by Honda's advanced e:HEV hybrid powertrain. With its 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, this Honda Freed produces a total output of 130bhp and 253Nm of torque, all while managing an impressive fuel economy of 20km/L.
Available in two variants, the higher-specification Freed HE7 gets head lights with Adaptive Driving Beam and LED Active Cornering Light, along with rear air-conditioning vents. However, there has been plenty of upgrades from the outgoing model as standard - both variants are now equipped with disc brakes all around, six airbags, Honda Sensing and power sliding doors on both sides of the car.
Design wise, the Freed now has a sleek and cheerful design that offers maximum practicality. With its compact yet spacious design, it is able to accommodate up to seven passengers comfortably. This Cat A COE MPV is a great choice for families looking for unmatched versatility and comfort.
The Honda Civic 2.0 e:HEV is priced at $218,099 after early bird discounts while the Honda Freed HS7 and HE7 are priced at $161,099 and $166,099 respectively, after early bird discounts.
