BYD Atto 3, Dolphin & Seal make a splash at Northpoint City

Coinciding perfectly with the start of the September school holidays, families living in the North now have an exciting trio of emissions-free vehicles to look forward to when their outings inevitably bring them to Northpoint City.
Continuing its strong streak of roadshows around the island, Harmony Auto has once more brought BYD's luminous trio of Cat A models out into the heartlands.
This time, the BYD Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal have landed instead at the South Atrium of Northpoint City. (In case you need a clear direction as to where this is, it’s right in front of Baskin-Robbins; you'll come across the cars if you're walking in from the bus interchange!)
The BYD Atto 3, as Singapore's bestselling model in 2024 thus far, should arguably need no introduction. Still, it's worth reiterating that a few key traits have made this electric compact crossover so compelling to so many.
For starters, its 60.5kWh battery pack gives it a WLTP-rated range of up to 420km - perfect for a week of driving in urban Singapore.
It's also highly practical, offering great space whether you're up front or in the second row, and comes with a sizeable 440-litre boot, which can be expanded to 1,340 litres with the rear seats folded away.
Finally, the Atto 3 is generously equipped too, offering features such as a full-length panoramic sunroof and electrically adjustable seats. It's also equipped with NFC connectivity, with which the car can be locked/unlocked with a key card, negating the need for a bulkier key fob.
Worth highlighting again is that the Atto 3 comes with tasteful updates for the 2024 model year.
Its 'Dragon Scale' D-pillars are now finished in gloss black rather than chrome, for instance, while it also rides on premium eco-tyres. On the inside, you'll also find an updated 15.6-inch infotainment screen that comes with BYD's Stingray Karaoke app out of the box. (You can take a look at exactly how that works with the experience we had here!)
On the note of generous equipment, the tiniest member of the BYD family, the Dolphin, should appeal to those who want something that's small in size, but still big on features.
Although just under 4.3 metres long, the car's 2,700mm wheelbase gives it a surprisingly spacious rear bench. This little hatchback also offers its front occupants one specific creature comfort normally found on more expensive cars: Ventilated seats.
Additionally, if you're in the market for a head-turning runabout, the Dolphin should do the trick with its robotic exterior styling, and marine-inspired interior styling.
Best of all, despite having a smaller 44.9kWh battery, the Dolphin's ability to travel up to 340km on a single charge is still rather commendable. Since said battery also supports fast DC charging at up to 60kW, juicing it back up also promises to be fuss-free; with the right charger, you could send its state-of-charge from 20 to 80% in just 33 minutes.
The final member of the Northpoint City trio, the BYD Seal, promises drivers a more premium ride and a lively drive from behind the wheel, while making sure not to compromise on space and sensibility.
As mentioned earlier, the specific car you'll find here is the Seal Dynamic 100kW, named as such because of its 100kW (134bhp) electric motor, which makes it eligible for a Category A COE.
While the car rides on smaller 19-inch wheels (compared to the 20-inchers on the more powerful variants), it's still as sleek as ever. Its smooth surfaces, retractable door handles, and X-shaped front come together in a package that's sure to steal glances on the road.
Furthermore, since the car's electric motor produces 310Nm of instant torque, and sends all of its power to the rear wheels, the Seal Dynamic 100kW should be quite fun to pilot on the road still.
On the inside, the electric sedan continues to impress with its expensive-feeling interior too. Highlights include its tinted glass roof, quilted vegan-leather seats, 12-speaker DYNAUDIO sound system, as well as crystal gear knob-shifter. Compared to its siblings, the Seal also gets a snazzier 10.25-inch driver's display, which includes the nifty function of allowing the driver to control the air-conditioning settings from the steering wheel.
As with other roadshows we've seen from Harmony Auto, visitors can look forward to exclusive offers when they make a trip down.
These include COE rebates for those who purchase their cars with guaranteed COE packages, as well as a free car wrap worth $3,000 for those who'd like to put their own unique chromatic spin on their brand-new BYD. (Alternatively, an insurance rebate of the same amount can be opted for as well.)*
Visitors can also look forward to having a go at a sure-win Spin-The-Wheel. Thinking of getting into shape this September? You can even walk away with a special BYD-branded 'gym pack'!*
But you'll find that the buzz this time round doesn't just stop at the lineup BYD has on sale today.
On the general theme of Cat A models, this latest roadshow offers buyers first dibs on an important, incoming member of the BYD family: The BYD M6.
The MPV is slated to arrive on our shores with a Cat A-eligible powertrain, and will mark the first model by the brand with seven seats here - perfect for bigger families who want to go electric.
With the car's Singapore launch slated soon, interested buyers can already put down their interest with a refundable deposit, following which they can enjoy $8,900 in savings and benefits off the M6's starting price when it officially goes on sale*. Customers can also consult with members of Harmony Auto's team at the roadshow should they have questions about the car.
The BYD Harmony Auto roadshow is now in action at the South Atrium of Northpoint City, and will run from 2 September (Monday) to 8 September 2024 (Sunday), from 10:00am to 10:00pm daily.
