BMW M5 lands on Singapore's shores

Space for five, supercar rivalling performance, and for the first time, the embrace of electrification. All these can now be yours with the new BMW M5 Sedan, now making its launch here in Singapore.
That's right. BMW's M5 performance sedan has returned and if you haven't heard, it now makes use of a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. This drivetrain comprises of a 4.4-litre V8 paired with a 194bhp electric motor and an 18.6kWh battery.
Combined, all these give this new M5 a total power output of 717bhp alongside the ability to push out a total of 1,000Nm of torque. And that translates to the ability to dispatch the century sprint in just 3.5 seconds alongside the capability to race to a top speed of 305km/h.
And while you're making your way there, the M5 promises to deliver on the necessary handling chops as well. Consider the fact that it comes with a double-wishbone suspension setup at the front axle and a five-link suspension setup at the rear axle, both equipped with electronically controlled dampers.
At the rear, this M5 also gets rear-wheel steering, improving its directional stability at high speed as well as its overall agility. And for sheer stopping power, look to the car's standard M Compound brakes, which sit behind the M light-alloy wheels (20-inch items at the front and 21-inch items at the rear) as standard.
But if a discreet exit is the call of the day, simply keep that battery topped up (it can charge up at a maximum power of 7.4kW) and you'll be able to quietly cover up to 69km on electric power alone.
And of course, you'd expect reasonable comfort in a performance sedan and this M5 won't fail to deliver. Promising touches in its cabin include ventilated and heated M multifunction seats at the front, and a standard Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system.
Ahead of the driver, meanwhile, is BMW's newly designed M leather steering wheel complete with illuminated M buttons and BMW's Curved Display, here running BMW's Operating System 8.5 and packed full of M-specific displays.
