Toyota revs up hybrid component production at Virginia plant

Toyota West Virginia has marked the start of production for its fifth generation hybrid transaxle, following an investment in the plant that totals more than $402 million (USD $300 million).
The fifth generation hybrid transaxle will be utilised in the new Toyota Camry and Corolla Cross. Toyota states that its hybrid electric vehicles are a key component of its portfolio approach to vehicle electrification, and believes that a diverse array of products will provide all customers a role in reducing carbon emissions. Since 2021, the firm has announced new investments totalling more than $24.9 billion (UDS $18.6 billion) into its U.S.A manufacturing operations to support electrification efforts.
Toyota West Virginia is currently the only Toyota plant in North America to build the fifth-generation hybrid transaxle.
