Ferrari has inaugurated its e-building, the facility that will house the production of its future combustion-engine cars, hybrid drivetrains, as well as the electric motors and its first all-electric model.
The firm states that the integration of the production of the entire range in a single building will allow it to reorganise and reallocate all production activities more efficiently among its existing facilities in Maranello, increasing its ability to adapt quickly to production needs.
The new e-building comes with more than 3,000 solar panels installed on its roof, which generate a total of 1.3MW. These panels will aid Ferrari in ensuring that the new building is powered entirely by renewable energy. Further enhancing sustainability, the building will also reuse energy from the production cycle and collect rainwater.
The Ferrari e-building will additionally play host to a new training space, and Ferrari states that it has already identified staff who will be delving into the skills and processes needed for the new systems and products, while receiving strengthened knowledge related to the electric motor.
The new e-building is also said to have been designed with ergonomic workstations, relaxation areas, and the correct mix of natural and artificial lighting, all to raise the well-being of its staff.
